GARDEN CONSULTATION

Garden consultation is a good option for people who are just starting to look at what they would like to do with their site or who wish to do the work themselves but are unsure where to start.

In a consultation, we will spend an hour or two on your site looking at the soil, light, pests, irrigation issues, and existing plants along side your lifestyle needs and dreams for your space. From this hour, we will build a report that includes photographs and sketches, along with answers to your questions and recommendations.

We can focus on any particular subject with a consultation, but the more common concentrations are plant choices, initial design ideas, and building an annual maintenance schedule. Each consultation report includes one A-list topic and two B-list topics from the list below. Additional elements can be added for an additional fee upon request.

If you decide to look at possible design considerations for your yard and then have us do a full design for you within the next 6 months from the date of the report, we will deduct the price of the consultation from our design.

Major Consultation Elements
(A List)

Maintenance Plan with Tips: This report will allow me to help you learn how to care for your garden. While it requires some basic knowledge of plant care, the report includes tips and book recommendations as well as a month-by-month plan on how to care for your space.

Plant Recommendations: A listing of a variety of plants catagorized by what zone of your garden then are most suited for. The plants are chosen after looking at some of your preferences for plants as well as at what your needs for your garden are. The report includes details on each plant, as well as an image of each.

Irrigation Plan: A map for a drip irrigation system for your yard, including an itemized parts listing.

Complete Balcony Container Garden Design: Even people with small balconies want to make special and beautiful living spaces. Because the space is small, I can include a full design for a small balcony space within a consultation.

Minor Consultation Elements
(B List)

Pest control issues and suggestions:
A brief visual inspection for both beneficial and harmful insects and plants in your garden. The report will include basic suggestions for fighting and tolerating the pest.

Map of garden zones: A brief map of which areas of your garden are high-sun, high-shade, water-logged, etc. This helps you decide where to put plants if you are doing your own design.

Possible Design Concepts: Given your lifestyle and ideas, the report will include a couple basic design concepts that might work well for your yard.

Tips on integrating edibles into your existing landscape: A listing of spots in your garden where edibles would do well as well as a listing of varieties that do well in your area.

Soil Care Suggestions: Your soil is the most valuable resource that your yard has, but many people don't know the simple steps needed to take care of it. Soil Care Suggestions will give you an annual plan to make sure your soil stays protected and healthy.

If you need any other consultation services that are not listed above, email us and let us know. The above lists are taken from the most common client requests, but it is not meant to, in any way, limit the questions you can ask or possibilities we can explore.
